Beeston is a suburb of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England located about 2 miles south of the city centre. Parts of the area, particularly around Beeston Hill to the north, suffer from relatively high levels of deprivation, while areas to the centre and south of the area suffer from fewer incidents of crime and are generally considered more affluent. Beeston is home to the Leeds United football club and Hunslet Hawks rugby league club. Holbeck begins on the southern edge of the Leeds city centre. Since large parts of Holbeck have been vacated in preparation for the regeneration of the area, the district has in large parts suffered from a population exodus. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal also runs through Holbeck.
Local candidate Luke Senior is campaigning to win the council seat in this ward.
- Luke was born in the Beeston area of Leeds, where he attended Hugh Gaitskell Primary School, before moving to Morley High School, and laterly, Leeds Metropolitan University.
- Upon leaving school, he trained and qualified as a quantity surveyor, working for various local companies before leaving the industry in 2012, to become a mortgage broker, a position he retains to this day.
- Luke has maintained a strong interest in politics from a very young age, before joining UKIP in 2013. He is a strong advocate of localism, believing that issues that affect a community should be decided by those within the community.
- He also believes that the United Kingdom would achieve great success as an independent, self governing nation free from ties to the European Union.
